Job Description: Based in Hartford, CT, the DataPower XI50 Message Transformation Specialist will be responsible for design, development, implementation, support and governance for DataPower XI50 life-cycle activities.
The ideal candidate must posses a strong understanding of an enterprise level shared services development environment, high availability models and disaster recovery techniques, and a proven experience in middleware, message transformation and integration architecture, infrastructures and technologies. This position requires working in a shared services organization and should have strong communication, leadership, technical and operational skills to plan, organize and deliver DataPower XI50 solutions across various business units.
Responsibilities:
• Provide design, development, testing, and support services and governance for DataPower XI50 and life-cycle activities, and ensure uniform implementation of standards and best practices.
• Maintain stability of the supported platforms and technical implementations through consistent monitoring / tuning, and participate in the establishment of monitoring tools and alerting threshold definitions
• Build knowledge / expertise around understanding performance thresholds and tuning configurations for the supported tools and provide consulting to application areas on constrained design practices
• Collect related metrics, and work closely with the Platform Architects and Infrastructure / Platform Owners to analyze platform capacity and perform demand management activities (for upcoming application loads or change in existing load profiles)
• Collect learnings through implementations, design and code reviews, and health checks; translate them into best-practices; and document for establishing group level policies and standards
• Help define engagement and operational models for the supported tools and consistently follow implementation of policies and life-cycle models
Adhere to ITIL and CMMI oriented eB&T standards, processes and policies
• Follow enterprise guidelines and policies to ensure availability to pager and Helpdesk requests for incident resolution related to supported platforms
• Lead problem management discussions through employing an analytical methodology / structure and engaging appropriate resources on a timely basis
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong process management skills with hands-on experience in process, quality and performance management methodologies
• Ability to influence and build relationships with development teams and internal / external organizations
• 5+ years of experience in the analysis, architecture, documentation and promotion of messaging infrastructure solutions including the use of SOA solutions is required (with emphasis on MQ and SOAP over HTTP message transportation protocols)
• Strong working knowledge / experience in designing, implementing and supporting DataPower XI50 solutions are required (including design and development of MPGs, WSPs and XML Firewalls with experience in support, troubleshooting and tuning)
• Strong knowledge in any-to-any message transformation with advanced level of understanding / experience in XSLT, Contivo and / or Websphere Transformation Extender are required.
• Strong working knowledge / experience with XML, XSLT, XSD, DTD and Namespaces required
• Strong working knowledge / experience with SOA (Web Services, WSDL and SOAP) in J2EE implementations are required
• Strong analytical and structured problem solving skills
