The Theta Psi chapter has an alumni association.

I know it has been much talked about, and a long time coming, but we have finally done the paperwork and sent it to nationals. They have given us the okay, and told us that the only thing left to do is get at least twenty dues paying members to sign on.

Before anyone asks, dues will be $65 per year. Not per semester. Per year.

Later today I'm going to post the chartering documents and further details, but I just wanted to get the word out that it was off the ground.

Put my name on the list. I will let you guys get as many as you can before I start hitting up people to make sure we get to the number of brothers required. You dont have to be a Theta-Psi to be in our alumni association.

Where do I send the money?

rlsheehan

No, anyone from any chapter can join, but with the understanding that, at least at first, most of the associations focus is going to be on Theta Psi.

That's not to say that won't change in the future, and we'd be happy to collborate with other alumni organizations for joint activities.

I'll get back to you next week about the money, because we haven't finished setting that up yet, but we will have a framework soon.

Here is part 1 of the consitution, as sent to nationals

Whereas, the undersigned alumni of THETA PSI chapter of SIGMA PI FRATERNITY, INTERNATIONAL, now desire to form and charter the SOUTHERN TREE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION; the intents and purposes of the aforementioned association are as follows:

1. To establish a more effective means of communication among alumni of THETA PSI CHAPTER, and alumni of other chapter affiliations within the local area, and the active THETA PSI CHAPTER of SIGMA PI FRATERNITY, INTERNATIONAL, at THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA.
2. To rekindle the interest in affairs of the local and national chapter of SIGMA PI among those brothers who have lost contact throughout the years, as well as continuing the interest of those active members who in time will join the ranks of the alumni.
3. To act as an advisory body to the aforementioned local chapter concerning matters wherein the alumni association holds a vested interest; and in other matters where the local chapter solicits the advice of the SOUTHERN TREE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION and/or any of its active members.
4. To maintain an amicable rapport between the local and national chapters of SIGMA PI, and act as a liaison between local chapters whenever necessary.

Therefore, be it resolved that the undersigned brothers of SIGMA PI FRATERNITY, INTERNATIONAL, and other such individuals that may subsequently attain membership, do hereby respectfully request the GRAND COUNCIL OF SIGMA PI FRATERNITY, INTERNATIONAL, to grant, issue, and otherwise authorize the SOUTHERN TREE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION of SIGMA PI FRATERNITY, INTERNATIONAL, a charter of alumni association status; with all rights, responsibilities, and privileges associated therewithin:

We don't know if nationals needs an honest to God signature from members yet, or not, but if so, we have a paper we'll post that you can sign, and then mail back to us.

The $65 dues for the association would be due no later than January 1st.

When I get back from OCS Rob I'll send in my money. Literally just checked into a hotel here in RI. I'm gone as of Sunday for the next three months.

If I get the chance and see Knott's I'll let him know but it'll be highly unlikely that I'll see him with a chance to talk with him normally in any sense. Hopefully I'll be able to attend his commissioning but we'll see. Otherwise I'm sure you'll let him know yourself if I'm unable to.

Ok fellas, literally just got off the phone with the man himself, Mark Briscoe. Aj was going to be out of town for a while so I called in. He says that he doesn't need ink signatures all he needs from us is a list of names so that someone may hand calligraphy (not sure of the tense on that) the names on our "professinal" charters. So here's what we'll do, under the pretense that, at least initially, our main focus is the Theta-Psi chapter, anyone alumnus who would like to join, may post their name (first, middle initial, and last how you want it to appear on the charter) and a statement of their consent. Your statement of consent is also an agreement that you will pay our annual dues of $65 dollars to ensure that we will be able to recoup the initial chartering fee and ensure we can keep the association operational. As far as Jason and other brothers that are spread far and wide, we are thinking as far as meetings go, we might host them online in a chatroom type situation, perhaps phone conference call, or if we can get brothers interested maybe something like Skype so we can all video conference. As long as Jake makes sure to wear pants when we do that. Post any other questions. I'm really excited to make this thing official!

Just as a response to Swallace and all other brothers, even if you are not a theta-psi you may join if you would like. In fact, we may need sheer numbers anyway so if other brothers wouldn't mind joining and paying dues and things for a year or two just so we can have "numbers" that might not be a bad thing. We just want to be sure that we let you know up front that (at least the first few years or until we're an established organization and able to do otherwise) the bulk of our attention and fund raising and things of that nature will go to the Theta-Psi chapter. However, we feel the more the merrier so to speak as we plan on having different events and things and the more men we have the better these events will be.

And, even though we might not necessarily be able to send a lot of money another chapter's way, that's not to say we wouldn't help other associations plan events, or help with heavy-lifting, etc.

It's just that right now, we don't have an accurate picture of our financial situation, so we can't really guarantee much monetary support outside Theta Psi.

Well, we looked at investing in goats, but unfortunately the market fell through last September. It looks like it still hasn't bottomed out yet, and Warren Buffet says they're only inflating value on the balance sheet and that when comemrcial real estate hits the wall, the goat commodity will double dip.

Plus, congress is considering goat fee/rate regulation, which regardless of the other factors would make them far less profitable.

I know it's risky, but I think savings is the way to go.

Chocolate is about the most spectacular thing you can invest in. It is proven to be recession proof. There is no "legal age" to purchase, and you love it at every stage of your life and it is appropriate in both celebration and mourning.

P.S. This is actually a true statement, Hershey is a heck of a stock to buy and rarely does it go anywhere but up.

It's going well, and all we need now are the 30 signatures, which we seem to be slowly but surely getting. As for the money, I will be setting up an acount with Fifth Third on Wednesday, and so by Wednesday evening I'll have a name you can make the checks out to.

P.S. porn, chocolate, goats, scientology: all you dumbasses are nuts. I want my money to be behind something that has legs. I want a solid investement that's going to be around reaping me returns for a very long time.

So, I'm putting all of our money into Betamax.

It's gonna be big.

goats have legs? They are tasty.

This conversation has veered down an eerie and disturbing path. What with Wong talking about eating out a goat (ie, I am making a reference implying Wong was tasting between the goats legs; hopefully we're all caught up now) and investing in strip clubs. I don't want to deviate too much from the task here. We need 30 names, and we need them by December so we can have a kick a$$ chartering party and us alumni have an excuse to get together and shoot the shizznit and reminisce about the glory days and not have it be pathetic. In the spirit of that, anyone have any luck getting in contact with JT or the of Captain cizzock blocking?
