Brothers,
I am pleased to announce that earlier this week, the Grand Council of Sigma Pi approved the petition to charter submitted by our colony at Georgia Tech! They will be installed as the Iota Mu Chapter on Saturday, November 14, 2009. The actual ceremony location is still TBA (but will hopefully occur on the GT campus).
The new chapter will be hosting a chartering banquet that night at the Renaissance Hotel Downtown Atlanta on West Peachtree Street. Attached, you will find a pdf file with the invitation to the event. For any alumnus and wives who would like to attend, it will be $55/person. This is for the banquet, which will include a 3-course meal and cash bar. You must RSVP by November 1. RSVP information is included in the attached pdf. Dress will be black tie. Hotel rooms are available at a rate of $109/night. However, you may be able to find a rate of $99 online. Book rooms directly with the hotel.
There will be a number of prominent alumni from out of town present for the day's events. Those include: Grand Sage George Hakim, Grand Herald Craig Donnelly, Past Grand Sage John Kitch, and Executive Director and Honorary Grand Sage Mark Briscoe.
I know many Alpha Phi alumni will be in Athens that day for the UGA/Auburn game. If you cannot attend, but would like to express your congratulations to the new chapter, you can send those to:
Carl Belshause
President
Sigma Pi
141 Student Services Building
353 Ferst Drive, NW
Atlanta, GA 30332
Feel free to pass this information along to any alumni in your address book.
Please join me in celebrating the newest chapter of Sigma Pi, right here in Georgia!
Fraternally,
