I know this has been kind of quiet recently, and I apologize for any delays and confusion. It's the holidays, I've been sick, and we've been starting a few new projects at work, so life just kind of got in the way.

Here's the update:
STAA has a tax ID number for nationals, and all we need now is thirty guys who say they are willing to pay dues and we have an alumni association.

We have roughly 15 so far who have said they're interested.

Dues are $65, made payable to Souther Tree Alumni Association

We have a google group with further information, but it is private, so if you are interested, simply send my your e-mail address and we'll invite you in.

I understand all of your lives are probably just as busy as mine, and there's no real rush here, so take your time.

A merry Christmas to you and all of your families (happy hanukkah for Lichtenfeld).

I don't have the exact numbers on me, but we have roughly 15 or 16 who've expressed interest.

Unfortunately, some things came up, and we weren't able to start making wider contact as soon as we had wanted. However, we're putting a strategy together so that we can have an organized effort after the holiday season, instead of just groping around.

When does the groping start? I'd like to be involved.

Robert I forgot to send you a check. I will do this after my honeymoon

No big deal.

We had originally hoped to be up and running by January, but I'm afraid that's probably not in the cards. As I said, it's the holiday season, and on top of that, we're doing a title audit at work, which means I and my co-workers have to hand check each of our physical titles, all 18,000 of them, against our system list.

But, hopefully Pete, Snake and myself can get together this week and start the gears turning again.

You can start now if you want. You get Stoen.

Hey Nate. No significant updates yet. Rob and myself have become significantly busier so the association is stalling a little bit. We still just need more names. We have an account set up to accept fundage, we just need men to say they're interested, post their name, and send money. We're in the beginning stages of planning a shindig to charter the association but no concrete time frame for this to happen.

My plan to is take the lead on the Evansville end and start to get to know the alumni down here, especially the ones that don't know about us, and hopefully through some events with the chapter, will be wanting to join.

I am still in but when its get closer to actually happening...I can send the check. Im doing a lot of financial planning here with a wedding and all so definitely consider me still in; I just need to be one of the later ones sending the cash.

I think Neville is taking lead on this and he has a list of area alumni. I'll be offering help to make phone calls or whatever is needed.

I think with us working on this just 1/2 an hour a week, we can get this thing completed in a short period of time. We will be contacting USI alum to see if they can help with anything, whether it be calls, planning, or contributions.

If anyone that's active in their association would like to give pointers, please feel free to do so. We'd be thankful for any "best practices" we could implement so we can be both effective and efficient.

Nate and Neville, feel free to do as much with this as you want. Like I say, Rob is bogged down with work stuff and my schedule changes almost daily so I spend most of my time trying to get some sleep when I can. We literally just need names on paper and $65 per man. Once this is accomplished I can submit it to nationals who will congratulate us and we'll be official.

Nate, I'm the Murray State alumni club president. We have an annual Summer Reunion in Murray that we've been doing since the seventies. This is always the third weekend in July. We usually end up with about forty to fifty brothers coming in for it. People usually peal off and hang out with brothers their own age but we do have some things that bring them together. A Friday night evening reception at the college's alumni center, a golf scramble on Saturday morning, lunch and then an alumni club meeting at a restaurant, a softball game, then sometimes a cookout that evening. The festivities are a good way to get folks to come into the alumni club and is also a good way for the actives to hit up alumni for donations. It also lets the alumni know what going on with the chapter.
