POSITION PURPOSE & SCOPE
Reporting to the Vice President and General Manager of HBE, the Director, Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) will create the strategic vision for, and lead the deployment of, all EHS programs across the manufacturing facilities in Huntington, WV; Burnaugh, KY; and Elkhart, IN. Incumbent will guide and support operational and EHS leadership as they implement EHS policies, procedures, and best practices into their respective facilities and as they measure and continuously improve all EHS processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Work closely with the HBE leadership team to develop and deploy with speed, discipline and energy a comprehensive EHS vision and strategy and the implementation processes required to ensure its effective integration into all HBE facilities.
o Provide leadership and support to department leadership in the implementation of all programs and processes required to ensure best-in-class compliance with corporate and governmental regulatory body EHS standards and requirements.
o Lead the process of establishing EHS goals for the business and assisting plant leadership in determining EHS priorities and action plans derived from those goals. Provide direction on implementing and sustaining effective corporate and plant-level EHS programs and policies and on providing technical expertise for the management of all environmental, health and safety issues.
o Move the business to a culture of employee engagement and involvement in safety processes and continuous improvement.
o Develop, deploy, and report on performance against key performance metrics for assessment of facility EHS performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Eight or more years of progressively-advancing experience leading successful, large-scale EHS improvement processes in heavy/complex manufacturing environments utilizing potentially hazardous manufacturing processes and materials.
An aggressive, energetic, amiable, confident, customer-focused style with strong skills in persuasion and negotiation. Proactive, takes the initiative. Sense of urgency to complete tasks and projects on time and on budget.
Bachelor degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or equivalent degree required. Relevant advanced degree is a plus.
