Icon5 Adventure Club

All,

Many of you know that I turned 33 a few months ago and have been struggling to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life.

What you may not know is that I was almost killed in the skys over Haiti. (I have the pictures, oxygen mask, news report, and apology letter to prove it.)

This was a real kick in the ass and I think I'm going to change my middle name "Danger."

Looking for input and ideas here....

Rules:

#1 - Brag the **** out of Adventure Club.

#2 - You must be in good physical condition and able to hike, camp, and be self sufficent in austere conditions for a week.

#3 - Participation in and activities in Adventure Club is optional.

#4 - Over 1/2 adventures should be kid/family friendly.

#5 - No adventures that have a significant probablilty of death until your children are in College.

#6 - As our likely hood of real death goes up (past say 60 years) adventures will become increasingly more dangerous.

#7 - We will economize adventures to ensure the greatest oportunity for participation and the greatest number of adventures.

#8 - We will create a list of adventures. (Bucket List)

#9 - Each Adventure will have one designated lead for the purpose of planning.

3. Then why be a part? What's your thought process here?

5. Define significant probability? Driving a car is rather dangerous, no?

8. What if nobody wants to drive on the Nordschleife but me?

I like the idea. How many do you think will participate?

Just wanted to be clear. Don't want to play? Fine: don't bitch about it or run your own adventure. It needs work....

Needs work too. examples: Air travel is acceptable risk. Handling poisonous snakes is not. Diving with sharks is acceptable risk. Picking fights in a back alley in Singapore is not.

Adventure Club is just a silly name for a concept and what may develop to be a loose association of travelers. Your adventure is yours and if you can share it with others...even better....

Don't know and don't care. I don't envision a corporate structure or significant dues. (Maybe collect some money to get t-shirts made mostly just silly ****)

What I do know is that we are no longer going to live and die in 3/4 time. And if we can find some friends to join us ...even better.

Jamie Ridgeway has been at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. However, he has not been on the track "at speed." I think you would agree that they are NOT the same thing.

Juat google "Adventure Club" Some are just covers for travel agencies. Good example...

We need a name and a mascot. WV-something seems kinda passe. How about "Mountaineer Safari Club?"
