I am sure that we all agree on this point. Heck, that could be me and Zach under there.

I agree that there are some rights that are just generally accepted, but we can't let the tail wag to dog here. The language of business around the world is English. The language that they speak in government is English. If a child wants to be president, they will have to learn to speak English. I know I am a little short sighted here in my argument, but to be successful in business and to rise to the top you are going to have to speak English. So, by that logic, by not forcing children to learn English in school we are putting a ceiling in place and limiting their success.

Why would people not want their children to be multi-lingual?

Thank you all for your help. I had to argue that English only would violate the 1st Amendment and I won the resolution. The other guy, a debate coach and teacher, won the best speaker so in essence....we tied.
